Multiple projects to ensure that members are well rounded leaders of society
Valentines in August (VIA) is an annual event held by the organization that celebrates the idea of love and Valentines with an economic twist. As August is the farthest month away from February, the demand for flowers is at its lowest.
Therefore, the idea of this project is to create an artificial demand for these flowers to compensate for their seasonal trough. Evidently, this event is usually held in August with a month of preparations done in advance.
Development Economics Conference of Ateneo (DECA) is a 3-day flagship event that aims to introduce economics to passionate high school students beyond the Ateneo gates and encourage them into the field of study. They will learn more about development economics through engaging activities such as onsite/online forums, group discussions, and poster/infographic making.
AEAdvocacy Week is a 5-day event that showcases various Non Government Organizations to the Ateneo community and other schools. Through this event, students are made aware of the different advocacies of said NGOs and are provided the opportunity to volunteer, intern, or donate to partner organizations. The AEAdvocacy Week shall be in the second semester of the academic year. The said event is conducted virtually.
KamalAEAn provides an avenue for economic discourse for the Ateneo student body, covering a wide range of sub-fields of economics, from climate change to tax reform. The project is a forum that invites professionals and experts to engage and educate Ateneans about the economic relevance of many of today’s pertinent issues.
The Workshop Series is an inter-departmental initiative solidified through the collaboration of the Finance, Externals, Academics, and Research & Development Departments. Its learning materials shall be available to guide AEAns in fulfilling their core team and/or department pool responsibilities. This initiative will culminate with individual MMS points for each session and a certificate endorsed by the economics department chair.
The Basic Economics Conference Series (BEcons) is a flagship project that features talks given by guest speakers of economic caliber and academic-related group dynamics as fundamental workshop components, derived from the ECON 110, 111, and 112 courses. The 6-session certificate course is open even to non-Ateneans. To qualify for a certificate, participants must get a grade higher than 70% in the course assessment and attend 3 out of 6 sessions.
